The Disclosure Pledge
This ribbon represents our readiness and our demand for disclosure regarding extraterrestrial life on, near, or in contact with Earth’s civilization.
Disclosure may arise from our governments, through grassroots movements, or from extraterrestrials themselves. Regardless of its origin, it must arrive in a stronger current than what we experience today. We envision, for example, an international museum dedicated to the evidence and reasoning both for and against an extraterrestrial presence. We seek something fixed and permanent, recognized with authority, and continually expanded by global leaders and the scientific community. If it must begin as an open debate rather than established fact, so be it.
Not everyone within this movement is convinced that extraterrestrials are already here. Yet, we stand united in our desire for more satisfying answers, deeper investigations, and true transparency—such as the unrestricted public exploration of Antarctica, or the fundamental right of citizens to openly explore our skies.
Furthermore, we wish to engage with benevolent extraterrestrials. Whether they are exceptionally wise and loving, or navigating their own complex political struggles just as we are, we desire that connection. However, we ask that any extraterrestrial presence be prepared for our skepticism. Even as the evidence for their existence becomes overwhelming, our skepticism rightfully remains centered on who is truly acting in our best interest, and how we can ensure our interactions are of mutual benefit.
Some among us believe the resistance to grand disclosure stems from a malevolent extraterrestrial presence already embedded in our society. Others believe the true barrier is simply the confusion and malevolence of humanity itself. Either way: we demand the answers.
Our movement encompasses vast spiritual diversity. Some of us are atheistic, viewing extraterrestrials simply as advanced or variant civilizations separate from any concept of a deity. Others hold animistic beliefs or feel that a belief in God is essential to the cosmic fraternity we seek, while still others hold fast to specific religious doctrines. We ask that any engaging extraterrestrial presence help us peacefully bridge these contrasting views, just as we pledge to patiently mitigate our own differences in the process. We understand that disclosure will inevitably force us to rethink our foundational notions of reality, but we promise to remain open-minded while holding fast to our core values.
While there are many values we would bring into this interaction, four stand as our pillars:
Freedom: We refuse to lose our liberty in this exchange. We intend not only to retain our freedoms but to strive for greater autonomy, especially as our current world often seems to be closing in against it.
Truth: We acknowledge that reality can be upsetting, even traumatizing, yet we no longer believe that cautious, drip-fed disclosure serves our benefit. We ask for it to be delivered in a grand way, in one unified motion: the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Compassion: We hope that disclosure will aid the wounded and help solve systemic crises like world hunger. We wish to see a decline in war and a reduction in our arsenals, or at the very least, initiatives that instill better discipline regarding the weapons at our disposal.
Justice: We understand that many among us carry deep anger, and that true peace may require the restraint of the reckless. We want to actively participate in systems of higher justice—even if those systems ultimately require us to learn the difficult lesson of forgiveness.
To this end, we pledge our ribbon of disclosure.
